EV Charger Installation

Charging at home is cheaper, easier and kinder to your battery than relying on public chargers — most owners do 90% of their charging on the driveway. We fit smart 7kW chargers for every make of electric vehicle across Bury St. Edmunds and Suffolk: tidy installs and full certification.

EV Charger Installation
Worth knowing

Why a professionally installed home charger?

A proper wallbox charges roughly three times faster than a three-pin plug — and far more safely. Home charging also unlocks cheap overnight EV tariffs, so you can wake up to a full battery for a fraction of public-charging prices.

A professional install matters because an EV charger is one of the biggest continuous loads in your home: it needs its own protected circuit, a load assessment, and notification to your electricity network operator — all of which we handle.

What's included

Everything handled, end to end

  • Site survey and honest advice — the right charger for your car, parking and usage. We’re brand-agnostic and won’t upsell features you won’t use.
  • Load assessment — checking your supply can handle the charger; if your consumer unit needs upgrading first, we tell you up front, not halfway through.
  • DNO notification — we notify your District Network Operator, as required for every home charger.
  • Supply & fit of a smart 7kW charger — tethered (built-in cable) or untethered (socket only), sited neatly where it works for your parking.
  • Grant applications — grants are currently available for some situations, including renters, flat owners, landlords and workplaces. We can talk you through whether one might apply to you.
  • Full certification and app setup — we commission the charger, connect it to your wifi, set up scheduled charging on your tariff, and show you how it all works before we leave.
Our process

How it works

  1. 01
    Survey & quote

Usually from photos and a few questions; a visit if the install is unusual. Fixed price, free, no obligation.

  2. 02
    Grant check

We let you know if a grant might apply before installation.

  3. 03
    Install day

Most home installs are completed in half a day, with a short power-off to connect the circuit.

  4. 04
    Handover

Commissioned, certified, connected to the app, and explained properly.

Choosing

The right charger — the honest version

Most quality wallboxes do the same core job; where they differ is the app, the tariff integration and the day-to-day convenience.

Things worth deciding before you buy: whether the app plays nicely with your energy tariff (the biggest factor in what charging actually costs you); tethered or untethered; whether you want the charger to blend in or don't care; and warranty length — several major brands now offer 3–5 years. We'll narrow it to two or three options that fit, with the trade-offs spelled out.

Solar

Got solar panels — or thinking about them?

Several smart chargers can divert excess solar generation straight into your car.

Your panels charge your commute instead of exporting for pennies. If you have solar (or plan to), tell us at the survey — it changes which charger we'd recommend, and it's much easier to set up properly on day one than to retrofit.

FAQ

Straight answers

Depends on your car, parking, tariff and phone habits. We’ll recommend two or three options with honest pros and cons — we fit all major brands.

Tethered (cable attached) is more convenient day-to-day; untethered is more flexible if you change cars. We’ll talk it through at the survey.

Most can, but we always check. If your fuse board needs an upgrade first, we quote both jobs together so there are no surprises.

For some situations, yes — currently renters, flat owners, landlords and workplaces rather than most owner-occupiers. We can talk you through whether one might apply to you.

Usually half a day for a straightforward home install.

A 7kW charger adds roughly 25–30 miles of range per hour for most EVs — a full charge overnight, easily.
